The sculpture "The Wave" by Erik Heide
A fishing village with art on the agenda
In Agger, people have long been aware that man does not live by fish and bread and good words from heaven alone. The deep urge to express oneself through art and culture is also visibly present in the town.
At the cemetery, for example, stands the sculpture "The Wave" by Erik Heide, and in several places around the city there are sculptures by Jens Erik Kjeldsen, who lives in Greenland.
In 2015, the first sculpture festival was held throughout Agger. The festival was named "Høfde 90" after the breakwater located just west of the town. Many invited artists participated in this festival, and the coordinator was Kirsten Barlit from Skulpturhaven in Svankjær. With the help of many volunteers, the festival was a success.
The opening was attended by Minister of Culture Bertel Haader, who gave an excellent speech about culture reaching every corner of the country.
