Lodbjerg Lighthouse

Lodbjerg Lighthouse

A landmark in the middle of the heath and the plantation

Address: Lodbjergvej 33, 7770 Vestervig.

One of the gems of Thy National Park is Lodbjerg Lighthouse, idyllically and secluded in the middle of a large moorland and plantation area. The lighthouse was built in 1883 and lit for the first time on November 28, 1884. With a height of 35 meters and a light that reaches 48 meters above sea level, the lighthouse has guided seafarers for more than a century.

After a thorough restoration, Lodbjerg Lighthouse reopened in May 2019. The restoration has created a harmonious connection between the historic lighthouse and the magnificent nature outside. The project has been realized in a partnership between Thy National Park, Thy Nature Agency and Thisted Municipality, and has received support from Færchfonden, Realdania, Friluftsrådet and Nordea-fonden.

The lighthouse and exhibition is unmanned but open to visitors every day from 7am-9pm, where you can explore both the tower and the surrounding areas on your own.

In the lighthouse yard you can occasionally meet volunteer lighthouse keepers who are ready to tell you about the history of the lighthouse and show you around the area.

You can find information about when the lighthouse keepers are present and the opening hours of the the coffee room here.
