The fisherman's house in Agger
A visit to the Fisherman's House in Agger, which opened as a museum in 2005, provides an authentic insight into the simple living conditions of a time before modern conveniences became commonplace. When you enter, it feels like you are a guest in a home from a bygone era where you still have to remember to bend your head because of the low ceilings. The house is listed and acts as a museum piece in its own right. It was probably built in 1749, as this date is carved into a kitchen cabinet door. There is also an annex attached, which houses special exhibitions in the summer.
The fisherman's house has a projection to the west, which is typical of the so-called right-handed houses that were once common north of the Limfjord. The roof is supported by two beams, called right-hand battens, and part of the house has rafters leading out to low outer walls, creating the projection.
