At the entrance to Æ Æwer, you can read about the area
Æ Æwer – the old fishing harbor
When you drive into the town of Agger, you can turn south onto Fjordvej. It’s right after you enter the town. Fjordvej leads down to what was once Agger-Kriks fishing harbor in the area known as “Æ Æwer.”
There was a great deal of activity, and a large number of the town’s residents made their living from fishing. Even today, there is virtually no one in the town who has not, in one way or another, had some connection to fishing. Either they are or have been fishermen, or they have a family connection to the fishing industry.
"Æ Æwer" is the name of the old river channel at Agger. Construction of the harbor began in 1924, and it opened in 1926. At the same time, people were still fishing from the beach. At that time, the harbor was owned by the Agger-Krik Fishing Association.
In 1933, there were 7 motorboats, 14 small vessels, and 50 fishermen living in Agger. In 1949, there were 14 boats with a total of 200 BRT and 58 fishermen.
Today, you can walk around the area and enjoy the old tool sheds, the old shipyard, and the quiet—which allows you to occasionally hear the sounds of the many birds that live in the area.
